The Warren Lumberjacks retained the Union Bank and Trust Saline River Shootout Trophy outright for the 8th consecutive year following Warren's 35-0 win over Monticello.

The Jacks first won the trophy outright in 2012, but also owned a shared portion after a tie in the first edition of the game in 2011.

The night was wet and cool but the Warren Lumberjacks came out hot with some passion.

Monticello kicked off to start the game and Warren took over at their own 31-yard line. On the first play, quarterback Riley Cornish hit Braden Jones for 68 yards down to the Monticello one-yard line. With 10:25 to play in the first quarter Vincent Steppes scored from the two and with the successful PAT by Jesus Tinoco, Warren jumped ahead 7-0. The Jacks then kicked to the Monticello 19 and then forced a punt and took over at the Warren 44. Cornish capped off the drive with a seven-yard TD run. Tinoco hit the point after and Warren led 14-0. The Lumberjacks then kicked off and left Monticello at their own 13 due to great coverage. The Billies broke a big run to Warren's 33. The Jack defense stiffened and Monticello ended up having to punt and Jacari Lee returned the kick to the Monticello 44. With 2:18 left in the first quarter, Vincent Steppes raced 12 yards for a touchdown. Tinoco made the point after and Warren went ahead 21-0. Tinoco's kick off went into the end zone.

Monticello mounted a drive in the second quarter and drove to the Warren one-yard line. The Lumberjack defense stopped them on 4th down at the Warren five-yard line. Steppes then ripped off a 94-yard touchdown on third down. Tinoco made the extra point and Warren went up 28-0. The next kick-off left the Billies at their own 14. Again the coverage was excellent.

Warren kicked off to begin the second half and Monticello began a drive at their 15-yard line. Jacari Lee intercepted a pass at the Monticello 26. With 9:18 to play in the third, Steppes scored from the one and Tinoco made the point after to put the Jacks ahead 35-0 and make the clock run as the mercy rule was invoked, Tinoco then kicked off into the end zone. Shortly afterward, Braden Jones intercepted Monticello at the Warren 39.

Warren was forced to punt one time in the fourth quarter and Tinoco got off a great punt to the Monticello four-yard line. Warren liberally played younger players including several ninth-graders just brought up from the Jr. jack team. In the fourth quarter, Aaron Doggett made several big defensive plays.

Vincent Steppes rushed 13 times for 164 yards and 4 touchdowns. He caught two passes for six yards. Riley Cornish was 5 out of 8 passing for 78 yards. He also ran for a touchdown. Tre'lon Marshall rushed one time for 8 yards. Warren had 256 yards total offense and held Monticello to 174 on the ground and 15 passing.

Jacks are now 7-1 on the year. They will face a very good Hamburg team next Friday night at Hamburg.
