Monticello - The University of Arkansas Monticello Football team is back for spring football. With Head Coach Hud Jackson at the helm for his 9th season.

Offense:
There are some new additions to the offensive coaching staff. Ryan Lusby comes in taking over the offensive coordinating responsibilities. Lusby spent last season at Coffeyville Community College as the OC and QBs coach, with stops before that at Henderson State and Texas A&M Commerce. Back coaching at UAM is alumni Marcus Hill. He returns a strong offensive line that looks to have depth and size for the 2019 season. Coaching the Tight Ends is Ryne Rainey going on his second season coaching at UAM. A new member of the coaching staff is Matt Goggans, who prior to UAM was the WR Quality Control at the University of Colorado, with previous stops at Western New Mexico and Louisburg College. The 2019 Offense looks to replace 3-year starter Cole Sears at quarterback, who is off to pursue a professional football career BC Lions of the Canadian Football league. The offense also returns All-American TE DeAndre Washington who looks to improve on his 2018 campaign that leads to his 1st team All American honors. Spring has been very productive in all aspects. It has been a very physical spring. Jackson is excited about the young players' development this offseason and spring. He is also excited about Josh Marini and the kicking game. Looks for great things from Marini after he is coming off his best season as a Weevil will scrimmage Saturday the 6th at 9 am at Monticello Hyatt field.

Defense:
One of the main points of this spring is going to be introducing our new scheme while staying with the mentality that helped us have so much success on the defensive side of the ball last year. Along with a new scheme we are expecting our older guys to continue to be our leaders on the field while looking forward to those young guys to step up during the spring and take their role and run with it. This spring so far has been very exciting with the defense the competition between position groups is amazing between the older guys and younger guys. Spring has been very physical. The defense has made great strides considering all the changes with staff.

The Boll Weevils spring concludes with the spring game April 12th at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium at 6 pm.
